Life's Little Instructions - Treat Everyone You Meet Like YOU want to be Treated!

Treat Everyone You Meet Like You Want to Be Treated
Life's Little Instructions

It's the golden rule - hard to argue with this one.  Both Luke and Mark talked about this in their Biblical contributions.

You never know who you are dealing with.  You never know what they are going through.  You have no idea how what you will say or do will impact the person in your proximity.  Often, they are on a brink of some sort. Your positive word could be the one that push that makes the DIFFERENCE - it could be the one word or smile that moves them into a positive action they have been considering.  It COULD be the one word that keeps them from tipping over the brink.

You can be a positive influence or a negative one - YOU CHOOSE.    But what if you choose negative?  What if your voice is the one that keeps them from making their next move?  What if your scowl is the last straw?  The consequences could quite literally be fatal.

If you can't get out of yourself - look at it this way - when you send good things around - Good things will come back to you!  If you are treating someone with the kindness and encouragement that you yourself desire- the environment in the room immediately improves.  Smiles are contagious - rarely will you give a smile that is not returned.  Want a smile?  Give one!

Life's Little Instructions - Sing in the Shower

Sing in the Shower
Life's Little Instructions

Sing in the shower - belt it out!

The day usually begins in the shower.  You can start it dull, or you can start it with a smile - you choose.  Singing has a way of releasing endorphins.  It makes you feel better.

Singing warms up your vocal cords.  It wakes up your brain. It might even encourage you to MOVE and warm up your body in addition to your brain and your vocal cords.

You're all alone.  If you can't sing anywhere else because you would cause people's ears to bleed, singing in the shower is the best place to let out your inner Pointer Sister without offending friends and family.

The acoustics are great.  The tile will cause the sound to swirl around you and make you sound even better than you thought you were!

Get in the habit - sing in the shower  - you'll feel better!!

Life's Little Instructions

Life's Little Instructions

There is a poster on the inside of my bathroom door.  I can't tell you how many years it has been there.  It wasn't bought for the bathroom door.  It was bought with the intention of framing it and posting it in a prominent place in our little apartment when we first married.

We were married 22 years ago, and the poster remains unframed and wrapped in plastic.  It never made it to a place of prominence.  At some point it got tacked with painter's tape to the inside of the door to the master bathroom 'throne'.

Because we are a captive audience when in the throne room, I have had many occasions to read and ponder the sayings H. Jackson Brown Jr. put together.  They are short, sweet, yet meaningful.

For the next few weeks, I will explore the sayings one by one and share what they have come to mean to me.
